Game Drive(Game drive)

A game drive is a guided wildlife-viewing excursion in a vehicle, typically in a national park or game reserve. It is the most common safari activity, usually conducted in the early morning or late afternoon when animals are most active.

Game drives are the core activity in most safari itineraries. They typically last 3-4 hours and are led by an experienced guide in a 4x4 vehicle with open sides or a pop-up roof for unobstructed viewing. Most itineraries include two game drives per day — a morning drive starting at dawn and an afternoon drive returning at sunset.

When building itineraries, operators need to schedule game drives around meal times, transfer logistics, and park gate hours. The timing and duration of game drives directly affect the overall day structure and client experience.
